Edward Windsor, Lord Downpatrick is the eldest son of George Windsor, Earl of St. Andrews and that makes him the heir apparent to the Earldom and after his father, also the heir to the Dukedom of Kent.

Edward Windsor, Lord Downpatrick is no longer in line to the throne because he’s a Roman Catholic. Under the Act of Settlement of 1701, no Roman Catholic can be in the line of succession. It should be noted that due to the Perth Agreement of 2011, a person is no longer disqualified just for marrying a Catholic. You are only removed from the line of succession if you, yourself are a Catholic.
